Logarithmic Correlation Functions in Two Dimensional Turbulence

چکیده
We consider the correlation functions of two-dimensional turbulence in the presence and absence of a three-dimensional perturbation, by means of conformal field theory. In the persence of three dimensional perturbation, we show that in the strong coupling limit of a small scale random force, there is some logarithmic factor in the correlation functions of velocity stream functions. We show that the logarithmic conformal field theory c8,1 describes the 2Dturbulence both in the absence and in the presence of the perturbation. We obtain the following energy spectrum E(k) ∼ k−5.125 ln(k) for perturbed 2D turbulence and E(k) ∼ k−5 ln(k) for unperturbed turbulence. Recent numerical simulation and experimental results confirm our prediction.

Experimental study and numerical simulation of three dimensional two phase impinging jet flow using anisotropic turbulence model
Hydrodynamic of a turbulent impinging jet on a flat plate has been studied experimentally and numerically. Experiments were conducted for the Reynolds number range of 72000 to 102000 and a fixed jet-to-plate dimensionless distance of H/d=3.5. Based on the experimental setup, a multi-phase numerical model was simulated to predict flow properties of impinging jets using two turbulent models. Mesh...
متن کاملLogarithmic Correlation Functions in Liouville Field Theory
We study four-point correlation functions with logarithmic behaviour in Liouville field theory on a sphere, which consist of one kind of the local operators. We study them as non-integrated correlation functions of the gravitational sector of two-dimensional quantum gravity coupled to an ordinary conformal field theory in the conformal gauge. We also examine, in the (p, q) minimal conformal fie...
متن کاملIs 2D turbulence a conformal turbulence?
A critical analysis of the conformal approach to the theory of 2d turbulence is delivered. It is shown, in particular, that conformal minimal models cannot give a general turbulent solution, which should provide for constant fluxes of all vorticity integrals of motion. The problem of small-scale spectrum of two-dimensional turbulence is a peculiar problem among the variety of turbulent systems....
متن کاملExperiments and direct numerical simulations of two-dimensional turbulence.
Experiments and direct numerical simulations reveal the coexistence of two cascades in two-dimensional grid turbulence. Several features of this flow such as the energy density and the scalar spectra are found to be consistent with well known theoretical predictions. The energy transfer function displays the expected up-scale energy transfers. The vorticity correlation function is logarithmic a...
متن کاملOn The Three Point Velocity Correlation Functions in 2d Forced Turbulence
We present a simple exact formula for the three point velocity correlation functions in two dimensional turbulence which is valid on all scales and which interpolates between the direct and inverse cascade regimes. As expected, these correlation functions are universal in these extreme regimes. We also discuss the effect of anisotropy and friction. Member of the CNRS; [email protected]...
